Wallpaper Removal
Question
I'm planning to
paint walls, which have previously been wallpapered (never painted).
Paper has been removed, but there are some slight gouges and blemishes
on the walls. Can I paint texture over the walls and then paint? Or
is there some other process I should follow. Thanks for your help. Love
the show!
Answer
Before wall paper can be removed, you have to know if the wall has previously
been primed or not before the original wallpaper has been installed.
If the wall has not been primed, then when you tear off the paper, the
wall has to be skim-coated first because you will tear the wall up,
Then it can be primed and painted. If it's been primed, then all you
have to is use wallpaper remover by spraying it but use a sponge to
remove the paper. It should come off very easily. As for painting texture
on the wall, sure you can! You can leave it smooth or you can texture
it.
