Sky Lights QUESTION: I have two flat skylights on the roof just in front of a dormer. Light reflecting from the skylights is distorting the vinyl siding on the front of the dormer, about 40 square feet of it. Someone told me that a tinting finish on the glass could make the problem worse. The siding people came up with no solution, and I have found no other answers. I may try applying an anti-glare film. Do you have any ideas? I can't substitute anything for the vinyl because it is a nice walnut-colored siding that matches the rest of the house. ANSWER: One solution is to get rid of the skylights. Or, you could install non-reflective glass in the skylights- they type often used to cover artwork. This would probably have to be single-glazed. Another possibility is to devise a cover for the skylights, sort of like a movable awning, to use when the sun is at the wrong angle. Finally, you could try angling the skylights, which would prevent the sun from concentrating its heat on the vinyl. Return to the "Crusader Q&A Topics" page! If
