Window Efficiency
Question: Why should I call to see how efficient my windows are? They are wood casements, single-glazed, with a piggyback storm sash on the outside of the casement sash. Should I replace them?
Answer: Don’t replace them. They are the most efficient windows you can get., because they open and close like a door, which is easy to weather-strip and keep tight, The piggyback on the outside makes them double-glazed. Have a window specialist check for efficiency. He will check the glazing (putty) on the outside of the casement and under the piggyback aluminum storm, and will check for proper weather-stripping, replacing both if necessary.
