HEATER WARRANTY
QUESTION: The 10-year warranty on my water heater is up in January. Should I get a new heater before the warranty is up? I am afraid that if it burst, my basement will flood.
ANSWER: For your peace of mind, you could go ahead and buy a new one. But be aware that most water heaters do not burst; they leak a little and produce rusty water readily noticed. So I would sit tight; it may last another few years. Or if it goes before the cut off date, you will get a new for free.
