Now that spring has
officially arrived, it's time to look around at the ol' homestead, and
see what projects need to be done. Maybe you need to buy a new tool before
starting your home improvement project? Then check out the "Ask Tool
Talk" web site. Here you will find reviews of tools and home improvement
products, and some ideas and articles about different projects. Perhaps
it is just a fresh coat of paint that is needed--well, go the Benjamin
Moore paint web site and see how your room looks "virtually"
painted. This way, you can test out colors before you buy it by the gallon.
Whether the project is big or small, you can use the "Project Estimator"
program on the "Do It Yourself On Line" web site to estimate
about how much your project will cost. Looking for some inspiration? Then
see the "before and after" photos, and some decorating ideas
from the web sites of some popular home improvement and decorating TV
shows. These, and other web sites reviewed below, will give you a good
start on your home improvement project, whatever it is!

The "Ask Tool Talk" site provides an extensive collection of
information about home remodeling. The site includes product reviews in
many different categories, from electrical projects to stationary power

Benjamin Moore
Paint

Can't decide on what color to paint the living room, or what trim color
would go with the new exterior paint? Then check out the "Personal
Color Viewer" on the Benjamin Moore web site. This handy feature
allows you to see which paint color looks best, using typical interior
and exterior photos, and "chips" of paint from various Benjamin
Moore collections. You also have the option of taking digital or scanned
images of the interior or exterior of your own house, and then using the
software to "paint" your room virtually, before you do it for
real! It 's fun to try a variety of colors, and gives a pretty realistic
image of how the color will look in or on your home. The site also offers
tips on how to prepare surfaces for painting, and a "paint calculator"
to determine about how much paint you will need for a particular project.
Do It Yourself
On-Line
http://www.diyonline.com
"Bath and Kitchen Estimator" leads you through a series of questions
about the size of the room, the type of fixtures or appliances you want,
and other questions, to help you determine what the approximate cost of
remodeling will be. There are other estimator tools for other types of
projects as well. There is also an "Ask the Expert" section
on the site, where professionals provide answers to your home remodeling
questions.
